Popular mid century souvenirs from travel to India, leather wrapped big cats and elephants made great conversation pieces. Made with lightweight plastic molded or papier-mâché cores, figures were wrapped with thin leather and then hand painted. Glass or plastic eyes and whiskers completed the look. This large fierce leopard makes a big statement at about 19” long and 8” tall. Original sticker on bottom. PLEASE NOTE: missing one upper fang (could be replaced with a plastic fork tine or something if desired) and some wear at tail base (see detail photos). Otherwise in good vintage condition from smoke free storage.
