The book is in remarkable shape especially given its size and weight. One hinge has some paper separation and some wear on spine. The illustrations are awesome. Inside the book had a cross-stitch antique pattern or stencil?
(Research into MF Conkey) given that the book would have been very expensive in the day it is very possible for it to have been this dude.

Leonard L. Conkey, D. V. S., M. F., degree of master farrier (M F) DOB 1861. Dean of Grand Rapids Veterinary college, and one of the leading veterinarians of the state. He championed reforms in veterinary education, medicine and invented many instruments.
