First edition, first printing hardcover copy of The Making of the Trek Conventions or, How to Throw a Party for 12,000 of Your Most Intimate Friends by Joan Winston (Doubleday, 1977). Very rare true first edition of this nonfiction book explaining the processes in developing and events that occur during early Star Trek conventions. A unique collectible for the Trekkie and fans of the beloved science fiction tv/film franchise. Jacket now protected in new (removable) archival sleeve but with some rubbing/scuffing to faces and shelf wear around the edges - including chipping, creasing and small tears. Some faint and sparse staining to jacket, mostly around the edges. Boards are straight and clean but with corners bumped. Binding is firm and spine remains fairly straight. Very faint liquid damage to top of pages near gutter, causing subtle waviness and discoloration. A few other small instances of staining to outer edges of text block, otherwise all pages are clean and unmarked. See photos
