N. Starbuck & Son was in business from around 1830 to 1850. Nathaniel Starbuck (1777-1864) was "N." and "SON" was his oldest son Benjamin. It changed its name to Starbuck Brothers around 1850 with three of his sons, as well as himself involved. N. Starbuck & Son issued three Hard Times tokens (HT-366-368), all of which tend to be poorly struck. Well struck and high-grade examples are rare. The blacksmith tokens (HT-369 and HT-370) have the Starbuck & Son reverse on them.
