Vintage Victorian Revival Carved Shell Cameo Brooch Pendant "Woman with Curls"

This is a shell cameo featuring a classic profile of a woman with a distinctly pointed nose, an elaborate hairstyle, and draped clothing. Based on the carving style, this piece appears to be inspired by Neoclassical or Victorian-era designs.

Cameos with pointed noses were especially common during the early to mid-19th century, particularly from the 1820s to 1870s. While, the hairstyle, which resembles Greco-Roman influences, and the high-relief carving suggest it could be from the Victorian era (1837–1901), similar styles were also reproduced later in the early 20th century.

Since this brooch has a rolling C-clasp (also known as a safety clasp or rollover clasp) that was invented in the early 20th century, around the 1910s–1920s, but it became widely used starting in the 1930s and 1940s, most likely this piece dates to 1920s or later.
