“Born in Québec, Canada, Théodore Jobin (1873–1955) emigrated to Boston with his family in 1890. He died in Providence, RI in 1955.
Most of his life was spent in or near Boston, MA. The young man quickly found employment with the large firm Filene's. Having been gifted with artistic ability, he was charged with window-dressing and with advertising design, posters, etc.
He had administrative abilities, and soon became the manager of D. R. Emerson's of Boston, where he was employed until the financial crash of the Great Depression in 1932, which forced Emerson's to close its doors.
What could have been disastrous proved instead a blessing. He began to devote himself to painting, and eventually took his place among the best contemporary artists.”
