Antique Staffordshire Toby Jug “The Night Watchman” c. 1830

Amazing antique Toby jug from the early 1800s depicting the character made famous by Shakespeare’s play, Much Ado About Nothing, The Night Watchman. This charming, whimsical piece is a unique and historical treasure that displays beautifully in any decor. It is in very good, previously owned, antique condition with no cracks or chips. There is some enamel loss on the rim of the vessel (the inside of the back of the chair), which is consistent with the age of the piece, it is nearly 200 years old. While this is a rare piece, the few others that are listed for sale are not in quite as good shape as the one we are offering. The enamel loss does not significantly affect the display of the Toby jug.
