This is an awesome example of really early advertising and/or recruitment mechanism for the Army Air Force Aviation that is an original Illustration and just a beautiful piece of artwork - hand colored!
As seen in the poster, there are four images:
1. A man shown with a book/notebook and pencil in hand
2. The front of a plane with two men inside and one on the ground look up at the men in the plane
3. A man looking proudly in the mirror at himself
4. A man getting his Aviation wings pinned on
In the center of the four images is a blue circle with a white star with a red circle in its center with gold wings on the star's side.
Below the images, is a narrative about the "Four Ways to go places in Aviation" which describe how you can get into the U.S. Air Force.
The poster advertisement measures 16 1/4" x 13 1/4" and was done, as noted on the back, by N.W. Ayer and Son Inc., which is an advertising agency founded in Philadelphia, PA in 1869. The agency is known as the oldest advertising
