What a lovely scene of shoppers standing by the flower market with the Eiffel Tower in the distance. What I especially like about this painting is how loose the brush must have been to lay down such thick quick strokes of color in places. This technique almost makes the painting jump out at you in a 3D way, making the painting seem more dynamic. Perhaps the artist recognized the hustle and bustle of the city shoppers and wanted to capture that somehow with this technique.

The bright pastel colors of the buildings and the shops is cheery and clearly shows how the artist saw the complexity of colors within this scene. There is a “circle of light” at the center most part of the painting with it focusing on the two shoppers eyeing the flowers at the market. This seems to be the focal point of the painting. Even the Eiffel Tower is hazy and not really within this circle. It’s almost a fixture in most paintings of Paris. This painting measures 25 x 21 in a gold fancy frame.
