Certainteed brings you the MemBrain Roll, a continuous air barrier and smart vapor retarder. The Certainteed MemBrain changes permeability to varying humidity throughout the year. This permeable vapor barrier installation prevents moisture vapor from entering the wall cavity in the winter and allows any moisture buildup to escape the wall cavity in the summer. The Certainteed insulation acts as a permeable moisture barrier and decreases moisture accumulation and associated moisture damage. Being stringent air barriers when standard tape and sealing practices are followed, it makes great interior air barrier systems. You can use this permeable vapor barrier insulation with unfaced, vapor-permeable mass insulation (fiberglass and mineral wool) in wall and ceiling cavities.
